Bangor, ME-- Bangor Hydro Electric Company presents the Maine Winter Expo 2008, Weathering the Storm Wednesday, September 24 from 1:00-6:00 p.m. at Spectacular Event Center on Griffin Road in Bangor. The event will offer valuable information and resources for residential and small to medium commercial customers to prepare for the coming winter.

The expo will feature two tracks: Track I: Winter Preparedness and Safety; Track II: Energy Solutions. Presentations and Displays will take place throughout the day along with drawings for items such as energy audits, storm survival kits, gift certificates and more!

Guests who bring a non-perishable food item or a monetary donation for the Salvation Army will be entered into a special drawing.

"We wanted to communicate improvements we've made to our outage restoration process to the community, but we expanded the theme due to the current energy crisis," said Kim Wadleigh, Senior Director of Customer Operations. "We want to help our customers through what could be a very tough winter. With so many solutions available to customers, we wanted to bring the resources together in one place to make it a little easier."

Bangor Hydro Customer Service Representatives will be on hand to assist customers with budget plans and payment arrangements. There will also be representatives from the American Red Cross, Eastern Area Agency on Aging, Penquis, Efficiency Maine, United Way, Emergency Management Agencies, the Maine Weather Service, and agencies that offer low-interest loans, low-income assistance, energy audits, and heat pump technology.

The Expo is free to the public and light refreshments will be served. Additional details and a list of participants are available at bhe.com.
